Footballers Who Converted To Christianity From Islam [photos]

The unfortunate truth is that most people who call themselves Christians live nothing like Christ and just take His name in vain. When a person decides to convert from one religion to another, he/she makes this choice willingly and is ready to devote his/her life to the chosen religion. Information gathered about famous football players who decided to convert to Christianity from Islam according to naij.

1. Djibril Ciss
Djibril Ciss is a French footballer who plays for JS Saint-Pierroise. In 2004, when Ciss played for Liverpool, he broke his right leg during the game against Blackburn Rovers. He was afraid to loose his leg below the knee, however, because of prompt attention from the trainers at the stadium, Cisss leg is functioning well now. Cisse was born Muslim though he converted to Christianity in 2007.

2. George Weah
George Weah is a former Liberian footballer who is regarded as one of the greatest African players of all time and of his generation, in 1995 he was named FIFA World Player of the Year and won the Ballon dOr. Weah converted from Protestant Christianity to Islam and practiced Islam for 10 years before converting back. He hopes for peace for Muslims and Christians, and says they are one people. Nowadays Weah professes Protestantism.

3. Kevin-Prince Boateng

Many people believe that a Ghanaian international footballer, who was nominated for African Footballer of the Year, is a pure Christian. There are rumors that the young footballer converted to Islam because of his Turkish friends and girlfriend, but after he met his bride-to-be Jenny he turned back to Christianity. The information about his conversion is false. The footballer revealed during an interview that he is a devoted Muslim. He said he recites the holy Quran very often and also regularly observes the very important Islamic fasting period of Ramadan.

4. Samuel Kuffour

There are some articles in the Internet that suggest a Ghanaian retired professional footballer converted to Islam during the 2002-03 football season, however, this information isnt true. He always was and still is a devoted Christian. During his interview with BBC for the Heart and Soul documentary, Kuffour admitted that some German teammates were surprised to see him praying to God before games. He also said his Christian faith gave him the strength to accept the death of his 15-month-old daughter Godiva who drowned after falling into a swimming pool at the stars home in Accra.

Omotola Jalade Talks About Husband, National Issues And More

In an interview with NewTelegraph, the ex-model and actress made it known that she has never been attracted to any man other than her husband.

She also made known her wish to have Buhari scrap NYSC.

Read  below:

Have you ever been been attracted to any man apart from your husband?
No! Ive never been attracted to any man other than my husband. My husband is sweet; hes very cute, handsome and attractive. Hes the one man I have always been attracted to all my life.

What do you have for those who have been wishing that your marriage had hit the rocks a long time ago?
They should keep wishing. Thats all I have to say.

Three things you cherish about your husband?
Oh my hero, my pillar of support, my ever cute captain. I admire and respect him for his calmness, dignity and his love and fear for God. So much I cherish about him, hes one in a million.

Do you still wash your husbands clothes and cook for him?
Well, hes sitting next to me (pointing at her husband). Maybe, you should ask him.

What advice do you have for President Muhammadu Buhari?
He should scrap NYSC. Its not useful, he should please do that for Nigerians. Our children dont need it anymore.

Why do you want NYSC scrapped, knowing fully well its a national orientation programme?
I have looked at the programme thoroughly and exactly what its supposed to have achieved over the years. Believe me, there is no credible or tangible result. Its a total waste of time and resources and I think all the time and resources should be channeled into something more resourceful.

For instance, I have had situations where some members of my staff, in the name of NYSC, left for a year only to come back and their spaces had been taken by another. You can imagine. NYSC is not just adding any value to our society or even to the lives of our children. I am of the opinion that it should be scrapped.

So what other useful and relevant programmes do you suggest?
Skills acquisition. We have had situations whereby the young ones, after graduation, are with no jobs. They start roaming the streets or even go into crime to survive. This is an urgent situation that needs to be addressed.

Let us make good plans for our children, instead of going to waste a whole year of their struggle, claiming they are serving their fatherland. They should be trained and equipped with skills. That way, their future is secure.

If you were offered a ticket to contest for the seat of a governor in your state and its confirmed you will win, would you consider the offer?
I wont accept the offer; but maybe, if its in Lagos, I will accept the offer.
